Clarification re: Grants-in-Aid & Revenue Distribution Calculation

While many are familiar with the NCAA’s current methodology for calculating grants-in-aid revenue distribution, some are still a bit confused after the autonomy decision to allow cost-of-attendance scholarships. The NCAA has created a memo to clarify how the grants-in-aid revenue distribution is calculated; it can be found here. Essentially, the NCAA is only taking into account tuition, fees, room & board as well as required course-related textbooks when it calculates an institution’s revenue distribution from grants-in-aid sponsored. This methodology creates a more level playing field from a revenue distribution standpoint and maintains the pre-COA scholarship revenue distribution model.
